Studio Underd0g and Massena LAB serve up a luxury pairing with the Champagne & Caviar 03SERIES
Tom Austin- Watch industry disruptor Studio Underd0g has partnered with renowned collaboration specialist Massena LAB for a 200-piece limited edition 03SERIES.
- Evoking the opulence of champagne and caviar, the “big-eye” monopusher chronograph features a caviar-textured chronograph subdial and a champagne bottle-shaped chronograph seconds hand counterweight.

If there were an award for the busiest microbrand of 2025, Studio Underd0g would easily be the top nominee. Hot off the heels of the final watch in a slam-dunk collaboration series with British brand Fears, the Underd0g is back again, this time, with the 03SERIES chronograph in partnership with collaboration specialists Massena LAB. It’s been a whole six months since we saw the distinctive big-eye chrono get some attention, and for this watch, the Avocado and Guacamole have been exchanged for something a little more upmarket: Champagne & Caviar.
A celebration of all things excessive, the new 03SERIES Champagne & Caviar is, as always with Studio Underd0g collabs, the result of two minds coming together. Firstly, William Massena, the founder of Massena LAB, who wanted to bring a bit of fun and playfulness to the often over-serious luxurious side of watch collecting, and of course, the creative genius that is Underd0g’s founder Richard Benc, the man whose mission is to make these concepts come to life in ways nobody else can.
The watch is based, of course, on the coveted 03SERIES monopusher chronograph, a highly successful watch that started life, well, as a bit of an Underdog. Loosely based on the one that started it all, the 01SERIES, the 03 is the next step up in refinement for the brand. It featured subtle changes and details that make the watch more of a specialist collector’s piece than the 01SERIES’ more playful and conceptual personality.
At 38.5mm in diameter and 13.6mm thick, the case is slightly larger than the base model, but it’s still well within that Goldilocks wearability region, arguably making it even more wearable for a broader range of wrists than the 01 model. The essential details remain, however, such as the excellently finished, brushed and polished stainless steel finish, and the thin, unobtrusive bezel, framing that gorgeous double-domed box sapphire crystal.
As always with these watches, the dial is the canvas on which the ideas between the two great minds converge. The dial features and layout always play an essential part, and on the Champagne & Caviar, it’s no different. First of all, the layered dial is finished predominantly with a fizzy, textured surface, in a champagne fumé that lightens towards the centre. This is complemented by an inky green ring that frames the dial and houses the tiny tachymeter scale for the chronograph. The big-eye 30-minute sub dial showcases the same inky, caviar-like green on a bumpy, textured surface, just like a freshly opened pot of the finest caviar.
I’ll bet you haven’t noticed it yet, but there’s another champagne reference on the dial. Look a little closer, and you’ll see that the counterweight at the back of the chronograph hand has been shaped into the silhouette of a champagne bottle. It’s subtle, “if you know, you know” details like this that make it very clear why Massena LAB chose to work with Studio Underd0g on this watch.
Another aspect that sets the 03SERIES apart as a more refined model in the Underd0g range is its movement. Instead of the manually-wound Seagull chronograph movement in the base model, the 03SERIES receives a Swiss upgrade, in the form of a Sellita SW510M calibre. This movement is the Elaboré grade cam-operated monopusher chronograph, with an accuracy of ±5 seconds per day, a 63-hour power reserve, and features a custom-decorated anthracite bridge with Geneva striping. It’s a lovely-looking movement, with a satisfying click when operated, that can be seen in full view through the sapphire exhibition case back.
Finally, the Champagne & Caviar is treated to the same exceptional strap as all other Studio Underd0g watches; a 20mm tapered calfskin leather strap, featuring quick-release spring bars and an engraved pin buckle, from none other than the Strap Tailor himself. This one’s in a pebbled black finish, but several others are available directly from Studio Underd0g.
