Sher watches gets kids telling the time at the London Studio
Russell SheldrakeWe are all about accessibility to the world of watches here at Time+Tide, and there is no better place to start than with our kids. And one of the biggest issues we are facing right now is that fewer and fewer kids are learning to read the time on an analogue display. With them being born with phones in their hands and digital time displays all around them, it can almost feel unnatural and unnecessary for them to learn what the big hand and little hands mean.
But Sher watches wants to change that, and they have gone and created a watch that is designed to help kids to learn how to read the time in the most effective way possible. Laying out the dial in an easy-to-read way that not only helps them to get used to reading a watch face, but it also helps them get used to having a watch on their wrist that doesn’t also send them push notifications.
We have recently started to sell Sher watches in our London Discovery Studio and online, provided you are in the UK or EU, and to mark the occasion, we got the Founder, Darren, and a bunch of our mates and their kids down for a bit of a kids’ party. This meant there was pic’n’mix, face painting, watch-based colouring books, and even Mario Kart took over our big screen. But the start of the show was without a doubt the Sher watches, with their fully lumed dials and intuitive display; these kids got a chance to throw one on the wrist while trying to outrun a blue shell. And if you head to our online store and spend more that £1,000 you get a Sher kids watch for free from now until 5th September.
I certainly didn’t expect to be attending a kids’ party when I got into this business, but seeing these kids get excited about a watch that didn’t have a cartoon character on it was really nice to see. I’m sure the collective sugar rush they were all on helped, but these watches seemed to be a real hit with the younger audience.
Now we are deep into the summer holidays I know it can be hard for parents who want to do a bit of shopping in town, and maybe even come in and check out the latest releases, but you’re worried about having the kids in tow. Fear no longer, these Sher watches will be a sure fire hit and will make them feel included in the watch shopping experience. And while we can’t guarantee there will be Mario Kart on the big screen every day, there will always be Sher watches to try on.
