Hot, hectic, humid, horological: we’re on the ground for Geneva Watch Days 2025!
Jamie WeissTwo trips to Geneva in one year? It’s a long flight from Sydney, but well worth it when there are so many horological goodies on show at this year’s edition of Geneva Watch Days. This is the first time I’ve attended the fair, and the vibe on the ground is very different to Watches and Wonders: it’s much more convivial, friendly and a little slower paced compared to the mania that goes on in Palexpo in April. Well, a little slower-paced. Andrew, Zach, Marcus, Pietro and I have certainly had an action-packed few days here in Switzerland, and the fair’s only halfway done!
The highlights so far: catching up for cocktails with Furlan Marri and Micromilspec in Geneva’s old town; chatting with an uncanny AI robot during our appointment with Czapek; escaping a sudden downpour only to be blessed with a genuine double rainbow during our TAG Heuer appointment; and of course, lots of impromptu catchups with watch industry alumni. “You can’t walk more than five minutes during Geneva Watch Days before running into someone you know or want to chat with,” as Zach puts it, “especially if you’re wearing a Time+Tide t-shirt!”
We’ve already covered lots of GWD’s hottest releases, and we’ve got a lot more content to come. The team’s been hard at work photographing, filming and writing up September’s bevy of releases, so don’t touch that dial. Hope you have a great weekend!

Watch meme of the week: what’s in a name?

I’m naming my firstborn “Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time Everest”. Really rolls off the tongue.
Wrist shot of the week: big jet posting
Geneva’s Jet d’Eau – or as I call it, the big jet – is one of the city’s iconic landmarks. And both it and Lake Geneva looked particularly stunning this morning. Thought I’d step out with one of the new Zenith Defy Chronograph USMs for a cheeky lake-view wrist shot. Our review on this retro (and furniture?) inspired watch collection will be live soon, so stay tuned.
Time+Tide Shop pick of the week: Doxa SUB 750T
The SUB 750T is finally back! The Doxa catalogue has been missing one of its deepest divers for years now, and while we just got a limited edition Clive Cussler model a few weeks ago, Doxa has made the right decision and brought one of the brand’s toughest timers back to full production. Why does it matter, though, that we are getting another SUB watch? Doxa already stocks the SUB 200T, 300T, 600T, and 1500T, with a few extra variations thrown in there for good measure. So why add another depth rating and grow the catalogue even more? Let us explain here, or watch our hands-on video review above.
The Doxa SUB 750T range is available to pre-order from the Time+Tide Shop. Price: from US$2,750

Inside the A. Lange & Söhne manufacture: “Where perfection meets beautiful imperfection”
In the world of haute horlogerie, few experiences compare to stepping inside a top-tier watch manufactory. When that manufacturer is A. Lange & Söhne – the German brand that emerged from behind the Iron Curtain to challenge Swiss dominance – the experience becomes transcendent. Recently, Andrew had the extraordinary privilege of spending a day inside Lange’s Glashütte facility with CEO Wilhelm Schmid, uncovering the secrets behind what many consider the most beautifully finished watches in the world. Watch on YouTube above.
The MoonSwatch is the best thing to happen to the watch industry in the last 10 years
You cannot change Russell’s mind that the Swatch x Omega Bioceramic MoonSwatch has been the biggest story in watches in the last 10 years – and by the end of this article, you’ll say the same. There have been very few other watches that have broken out of our bubble and into the mainstream the same way this unique collaboration has, and that can not only be seen in the sales figures (which we will get to later) but in the secondary market, column inches dedicated to the watch, and the type of person that is aware of it. There has been a real cultural impact as well as a financial one from the MoonSwatch – Rus explores both here.
A stainless steel Patek Philippe isn’t for you, and that’s okay
And not because we don’t think they’re good watches, or that the average person can’t pull one off: our new contributor, Andrew O’Conno,r shares a slightly uncomfortable truth about some of the most coveted watches from one of the most coveted watchmakers of all time here.
